I created this metal wasp sculpture as one of the center pieces for my thesis show at Hampshire College. It was meant to be an intimidating and striking guardian that you had to pass to enter my show.

My hope was it would bring people into the moment as they entered and have the space itself feel separate and safe. I mean if this thing were real it would be quite formidable, like monster movie type stuff! The main challenge with this metal insect sculpture was the fact that it was visible from all sides which meant I couldn't hide any welds and had to complete every surface.

This Wasp sculpture is free hanging, made entirely of stainless steel, colored using only heat patinas, and is safe to be kept outdoors!
