This poppy is all about contrast. I left the petals the natural color of stainless stainless, polished silver that feels crisp and luminous, then set them against a stem and leaves pulled into rich gold with the torch. The bloom opens around a deep blue center touched with just a hint of gold — a cool spark framed by warmth.
The center, like its siblings, is where the real obsession happens: a welded seed pod surrounded by a ring of hand-bent stamens, each one ground to catch light like fine filigree. It’s painstaking work, but it’s what makes the flower feel alive.
Without roots, this piece takes on the feel of a cut bloom — elegant, immediate, and a little bit dramatic, as if someone had plucked it from the garden and held it up to the sun. The silver petals give it a quiet dignity, while the torch-colored stem and leaves keep it alive with fire.
This sculpture feels like a study in opposites: hot and cool, delicate and strong, fleeting and permanent — a poppy that shouldn’t last, but now will.
This sculpture is safe to be kept outside.
