Few leaves are as instantly recognizable as the ginkgo, elegant, fan-shaped, and full of quiet symbolism. I wanted to honor that iconic form in stainless steel, scaled up to make a statement. Each leaf in this series measured roughly 20" from stem to tip, large enough to command attention as metal wall art while still keeping the graceful proportions of the real thing.

The surfaces glowed with golden heat patina, a color drawn out only with flame, no paint or pigment. To capture the natural texture of the leaf, I hand-ground fine lines with a pencil grinder, echoing the delicate veining that makes ginkgo leaves so mesmerizing. From a distance, the sculpture read as bold and striking; up close, the intricate details invited you to linger.

Designed as wall-hanging pieces, these stainless steel ginkgo leaf sculptures could stand alone as sculptural art or be grouped together like a windblown cluster.
