Petunias are known for being bright and unapologetic, and that was exactly the spirit I wanted to capture in this stainless steel petunia sculpture. This oversized bloom demanded a lot of torch work, coaxing the metal through brilliant blues into deep purples. From there, I chased the form with a grinder, sketching in silver and gold accents by hand. The result felt almost graphic, as if the metal flower had been illustrated and then pulled into three dimensions.
