I had someone reach out to me through my website wanting a metal orchid sculpture. Her budget was a bit lower than the price so I made her a deal: I would create something in her budget if I could make something new that wasn't a Phalaenopsis or moth orchid, because that was all I ever made and there are so many incredible types of orchid out there. And she excitedly agreed!

She looked at a few different types and the Pacific Matriarch orchid, also known as the Beallara Patricia McCully orchid, stood out to her and I was excited at the thought of making one. So I got to work! I started out by coloring it purple then grinding in all those squiggly little details and then came back and colored it the cooler golden colors before finally bringing out the silver details, cold shaping and welding it together.

This Pacific Matriarch Orchid sculpture is wall hanging, made entirely of stainless steel, colored using only heat patinas, and is safe to be kept outdoors!
