Wahoo are built for speed and spectacle with their sleek bodies, sharp teeth, and a pattern that shimmers like sunlight breaking through water. Translating that into stainless steel meant chasing both pattern and movement with my torches, grinder, and bead roller.
Wahoo Metal Sculpture

Wahoo Metal Sculpture
I pushed the metal through its full spectrum: bright blues across the back fading through purple into a golden belly. Over that base I layered in hand-ground lines to mimic the wahoo's natural camouflage, those sharp almost graphic stripes that help it vanish into the dappled light of the ocean. The fins carry bead-rolled texture and scalloped edges kissed with the torch until they looked naturally burnt... cause they were. And yes, I even ground in a mouth full of teeth sharp enough to make you think twice.
The fun of this piece was capturing the spirit of a sportfish without the part where you have to hook one, fight it to the boat, and pay for a taxidermy mount. This is a trophy you can hang proudly on the wall, no fishing license required!
This wahoo sculpture is wall hanging, made entirely of stainless steel, colored using only heat patinas, and is safe to be kept outdoors!
